Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale was a pioneering nurse and the founder of modern nursing. Born in 1820 in England, she revolutionized healthcare by introducing sanitation and hygiene practices in hospitals, significantly reducing mortality rates. Nightingale’s work during the Crimean War (1853–1856) earned her recognition for improving hospital conditions and patient care. She also established the first formal nursing school, the Nightingale Training School, in 1860. Nightingale’s contributions laid the foundation for nursing as a professional field, and her legacy continues to inspire healthcare practices worldwide.
